Wai Or Dakshin Kashi
One has to drive carefully on the loose gravel grounds with no barricades on the sides to reach the tip of the spur from where seen towards the Eastwards is the great cultural & historic city of Wai with the zigzag curves of the Pasarni Ghat.
Northwards seen in the front - the tabular Pandavgad to the left of it on the back ridges is the holy place of the deity Mandhardevi and towards the northwest the other fort of Kamalgad and some portion of the Dhom dam are seen.
Pratapgad
Going down the Radtondi Ghat or the Fitzgerald Ghat and up the Dhorpia, lies the historical Fort of Pratapgad, built by the great Maratha Warrior Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Half way up the Dhorpia hill is the grave of the Bijapur Sultanate warrior Afzal Khan. On the foothills is the historic village of Par where the Adishakti Goddess Varadh Wardini's temple is located, a Goddess worshiped by the Bhosales.
Tapola
On the South of Mahabaleshwar down the Tapola Ghat in the Koyna valley is a small town on the extreme backwaters of the Triveni Sangam of the Koyna, Solshi and the Kandhati River. Locally coined as Mini Kashmir due to the serenity and the beauty of the Shivsagar Lake, it is an excellent boating and picnic point.
